Position: Part-Time Assistant Store Manager
Global Gifts is seeking a part-time Assistant Manager for the store located at 122 N. Walnut St. in Bloomington, Indiana. The ideal candidate will have retail sales experience, supervisory experience, excellent organizational skills, an appreciation of fair trade, and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities will include:
- Creating the store schedule; making sure schedule is covered with volunteers and staff at all times.
- Collaboration on floor and window displays
- Training volunteers in the areas of customer service, product information, and store operations.
- Working with volunteers and staff on the sales floor. This would include helping customers, checking in orders, keeping store clean, helping with special events in store, inventory ordering, etc.
- Social media outreach
- Other tasks as assigned by store manager.
The person filling each position will need to be:
- Friendly and customer service oriented
- Able to work well with a diverse group of volunteers.
- Able to work independently.
- Goal oriented and able to create and follow a schedule which requires fine attention to details, especially when scheduling and gathering information about volunteers.
- Able to have a somewhat flexible schedule.
- Able to work weekends
- Able to work well in Excel and Microsoft Office.
This position is part-time and will range from 25 to 30 hours per week. Wage is $14 per hour. Benefits include PTO and paid holidays.

Position: Sales Associate
We are looking for a part-time Sales Associate who can work 20-25 hours per week with weekend and evening availability. Ideal start date is May 2022 with training beginning as soon as possible.
Associates in this position will be customer service oriented, possess excellent organization and communication skills, and will be able to take initiative completing projects as they see are needed.
Sales Associate responsibilities include:
- Customer Service
- Anticipating customer needs through gift wrapping, special order, shopping assistance, etc.
- Educating new customers about our mission and fair trade.
- Shipment Processing
- Receiving new orders through our inventory system, Lightspeed, accurately and consistently.
- Store Display Assistance
- Ensure store sections are merchandized in an “easy to shop” standard.
- Assistance with training and working with volunteers.
- Demonstrate and guide volunteers and interns through our store processes and procedures.
- Monthly Cleaning Duties and Maintenance
- In coordination with other Associates, ensure upkeep of our backroom through regular cleaning and organization of merchandising and product display materials.
Sales Associate requirements are:
- High School diploma.
- Retail sales or Customer Service experience will get preference.
- Ability and desire to work and interact with a diverse group of volunteers and customers in a professional and positive way.
- The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Takes initiative and works well on solo projects as well as collaborating with others.
- Excel and data management skills a plus.
Starting wage is $12.00 per hour. Benefits include PTO and paid holidays.

Position: Sales Associate

Sales Associate responsibilities include:
- Customer Service
- Providing outstanding customer service by greeting and assisting all customers, building and maintaining positive relations with them, anticipating their needs, and exceeding their expectations.
- Offer and encourage our gift wrapping options, special ordering, shopping assistance, etc.
- Educating new customers and volunteers about our mission and the fair trade movement.
- Shipment Processing
- Assist with receiving and processing shipments as they arrive and maintain attractive store displays.
- Process e-commerce purchases and appropriately prepare orders to be shipped to our customers.
- Assistance with training and working with volunteers.
- Guide volunteers through our store processes and procedures through ongoing training while keeping a collaborative and professional environment.
- Monthly Cleaning Duties and Maintenance
- In coordination with other Associates, ensure upkeep of our sales floor, back room, and restroom through regular cleaning and organization of merchandising and product display materials.

SHORT NORTH, COLUMBUS, OHIO JOB OPENINGS
Position: Store Manager
Global Gifts seeks a full-time manager to operate a fair trade retail store in the Short North District of Columbus, Ohio. An ideal candidate will have at least 3 years retail management experience, will have the skills and passion to develop a team dedicated to customer service, will be goal oriented, and will be ready to take on new challenges. In addition, the ideal candidate will:
- Be able to demonstrate past success in their work.
- Have excellent communication and people skills and enjoy working with a diverse group of paid staff, volunteers, and students.
- Be oriented toward meeting sales goals and able to create and follow a work plan.
- Be able to work creatively with limited resources.
- Be able to work weekends and evenings.
- Be able to promote Global Gifts in the community through speaking engagements, in-store events, and social media.
- Provide great customer service and model professionalism for staff and volunteers.
Manager job responsibilities include:
- Sales, customer service, and creative thinking around how to increase sales.
- Ordering and inventory management of merchandise.
- Ordering and maintaining support supplies and equipment necessary for the operation of the store (i.e. cleaning supplies, computer and other electronic equipment upkeep, lighting fixtures in good working order, . . .).
- Scheduling staff, and volunteers to ensure store is fully covered at all times.
- Creating, changing, and maintaining attractive merchandise displays within Global Gifts’ visual merchandising guidelines.
- Regular processing of funds and providing regular financial reports to bookkeeper and executive director.
- Regular recruitment and training of volunteers with an emphasis on creating opportunity for volunteers to support the store based on their skills and interests.
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism among store staff and volunteers. Redirecting staff and volunteers as needed.
- Hiring, training, and managing part-time support staff.
- Organizing and promoting regular events designed to increase store traffic and purchases.
- Coordinating and communicating with other Global Gifts stores in the areas of best practices, inventory management, and events.
- Other duties as needed.
Other Information
This position reports to the executive director and will work in partnership with other Global Gifts stores and operations. The position comes with health and retirement benefits and a friendly work environment. The manager can expect to work weekends on a regular basis. Extended store hours occur seasonally. Global Gifts, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, is Indiana and Ohio’s largest fair trade organization, operates five retail stores and has a significant online presence.
